About Chris hilbig

Chris Hilbig lives and works out of San Antonio, Texas. He is an artist, an illustrator, and a children’s book author. Chris has been drawing ever since he could hold a crayon. His childhood influences came out of the world of sequential arts, such great men as Charles Shultz, Floyd Gottfredson, and Carl Barks.
He has attended San Antonio College’s Print Design program and is a graduate of the Art Instruction Schools of Minneapolis, Minnesota. While a student at the Art Instruction Schools, Chris won the Blue Ribbon Art Award, was a finalist in the 2010 Charles Schulz Cartoon Art Competition, and won 1st place in the 2012 Charles Schulz Cartoon Art Competition.
Chris has had a variety of careers, including working as a graphic designer, freelance illustrator, and various positions in the retail sector.
Chris has published three children’s books under his 2nd Half Studios Publishing imprint. “Baby Hopper Learns the Magic of Good Manners” is available from Amazon in multiple formats.
He enjoys working in various styles and experimenting with different mediums. Chris likes testing new art materials and techniques to discover what can be accomplished.
In his work, Chris is currently exploring childhood themes and experiences. The paintings he creates are less than serious and are meant to invoke the funny bone as opposed to anything serious.
