I have a special fondness for Dog of Clubs art prints. This painting features the Little Dog, one of my favorite Little People toys when I was a small kid. They were just like the little men and women but had a dog head and collar. I couldn’t specifically tell you why, but I had a lot of fun with them.
In 2020 and 2021, I worked on some production pieces (known as “Little Spoofs”) for an ill-fated skateboarding lifestyle company that I helped to found. One of the goals for these paintings was to create works that spoof famous pieces of art using classic Fisher-Price kid’s toys. In some of the production pieces, I was able to give them a bit of an edge to create a more twisted look. Dog of Clubs is one of those works that are a bit twisted.
Dog of Clubs art prints feature a Little People dog spoofing the Jack of Clubs playing card art. Just like most dogs, this dog takes a random bite out of his clubs and spits it out whatever made his tongue green in disgust. (This was one of the smarter pups.) The original painting was done on canvas board using Turner Acryl Gouache known for its quality, matte finish, and easy reproduction.
